The Foxboro 8400A is a compact, wafer-style electromagnetic flow sensor designed for accurate and cost-effective measurement of conductive liquids. Engineered by Schneider Electric under the trusted Foxboro brand, the 8400A is positioned as a practical, entry-level flowmeter—ideal for standard water-based processes, non-aggressive liquids, and general-purpose industrial applications. While it lacks some of the advanced hygienic or chemical-resistant features of the higher-end 8500A, 9600A, or 9700A models, the 8400A delivers reliable performance in mainstream applications without the premium price tag. The 8400A operates on Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction, meaning it detects flow based on how conductive fluids interact with a magnetic field. With no moving parts, it offers excellent long-term stability, minimal maintenance, and virtually no pressure drop, making it especially well-suited to applications involving clean or lightly contaminated water, such as in cooling loops, water supply systems, irrigation, and industrial utilities.
