Draeger Flame 5000: Making Your Process Safer and More Efficient

The Draeger Flame 5000 detects characteristic properties of flames on the basis of a live video signal. By using Draeger’s sophisticated digital signal processing and software algorithmics –  false alarms can practically be excluded and true flame emergencies can be detected from a safe distance. 

The Flame 5000 is easy to install using a mounting bracket of stainless steel. The swiveling mount allows for the device to always be aimed towards a potential source of fire. Detection of fires of 0.1 m2 at a distance of 44m within a horizontal visual field as of 90 degrees. The detector’s field of view is a rectangular pyramid shape and represents a radial projection of the sensing element, therefore giving it the greatest coverage area of any flame detector currently available.

The detector transmits live video signals, which can also transmit alarm and status signals to a controller and fire alarm system. A 0 to 20 mA signal or relay outputs are available for this purpose. Additionally, video recordings of the time period immediately before and after a detected fire can be saved, collected and retrieved by means of a digital memory card.

The Flame 5000’s visual technology allows for instant verification of a fire alarm without the operator having to enter a dangerous area. The device status is displayed by tricolor LED light at the front of the device so that the status of the device is always clearly visible for persons working close to it. Green means normal operating conditions, the yellow LED indicates a fault and the red LED turns on if flames are detected.

The device is available with aluminum or stainless-steel housing and can be employed worldwide due to its variety of approvals: ATEX, IECEx, FM and cFM.
